It seems more like a tennis match, Pakistan scores, India scores, Pakistan scores again. But in the end both will eventually lose. If somebody asks me, I genuinely answer them that I don’t see a solution to the Kashmir issue in the next fifty years. Even three wars and two declarations later they could not come up with a solution, then how come we expect a miracle. The stand of both India and Pakistan has hardened over the years, and nobody is in a compromising mood. I checked the Oxford dictionary to see that if I had used the word “compromise” correctly.

Pakistan on one hand says Kashmir is its jugular vein, how can it take measures to do away with its jugular vein, I fail to understand. India says Kashmir is an inseparable part, can it part away with it. Kashmiri’s leaders say that they want tripartite talks involving Kashmiri’s, India and Pakistan, but isn’t such an exercise a waste of time. But there is an important factor which I forgot to mention, it is the pressure factor which the USA builds upon these countries. The role of USA is more strategic than what it seems. As America looks at it - for stable Afghanistan they want a stable Pakistan and for a stable Pakistan they want them to use their resources against the Taliban in Pakistan. However with Kashmir catching up Pakistan’s attention it cannot concentrate its attention towards eliminating the Taliban. So for eliminating the Taliban in Pakistan, America wants a solution to Kashmir issue and wants Pakistan to make peace with India. Everything is in a circle, for stable Afghanistan relationship of Pakistan with India should improve.
And here I am sitting in Kashmir hoping for a solution for the Kashmir issue, which I don’t see coming up in next fifty odd years. Till then have some anatomy classes.
