Thandiani, a hill station located in the southern part of the Abbotabad District at a distance of 31 km from the Abbotabad city is in the foothills of Himalayas. Thandiani in the local language, Urdu means, very cold area. In the east of this hill station is snow covered, Pir Panjal mountain ranges of the Kashmir. To the north and northeast is mountains of Kohistan and Kaghan and in the northwest is the snow covered mountains of Chitral and Swat. Being a lush green and beautiful hill station it's visited by lot of people in summer and winter as well. The area is covered by the thick forest welcoming different kind of wildlife includes; leopards, monkeys, pheasants, flying squirrels Pine Martin.
